The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.

We also publish the CrossFit Journal, designed to support the CrossFit community detailing the theory, techniques, and practiced by our coaches in our gym, in essence bringing your garage or gym into ours, making you a part of the CrossFit family.

CrossFit workouts are comprised of constantly varied functional movements (like pushing, pulling, squatting, lifting, running) executed at high intensity. At San Francisco Crossfit, you will not find any machines – instead, you will find kettlebells, barbells, medicine balls, sleds, and tons of open space for running, jumping, climbing, lifting, and throwing. The workouts themselves are completely scalable, which means that a new participant and a CrossFit veteran can complete the same workout with changes in load and intensity. CrossFit workouts will deliver phenomenal fitness in and of themselves or as a complement to your sport-specific training regime.

Our fitness programming aims to improve your capacity in ten recognized fitness domains: cardio-respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. The result is comprehensive physical fitness and restored vitality.

Then CrossFit is for YOU. Our classes take place at our beautiful warehouse in the Presidio. Every workout is different, and since you will rarely do the same thing twice, you are less likely to lose interest or get bored than if you were doing the same circuits at the gym three days a week. Because our workouts are rarely more than 45 minutes long they can fit into even the busiest schedules. Perhaps most importantly, since we opened our doors in December 2005, our athletes have seen dramatic changes in their speed, strength, performance, and body composition.

He discovered that there was a better way to achieve fitness than the typical and often boring methods of spending hours in the gym. He proposed a method using constantly varied, functional movements executed at high intensity. Our program delivers a fitness that is by design, board, general and inclusive. It encompasses the standards you would expect: weightlifting, body weight exercises and traditional cardio. However, the magic of CrossFit also calls for Olympic lifting, climbing, throwing, basic tumbling and gymnastics. It taxes both the aerobe and the anaerobic energy systems. Core strength is the foundation of our program. Whether you are looking for lifelong health and fitness or to pursue competing in CrossFit as a sport, the same underlying needs and principles apply.
